Adrian Bolshoi was born and raised in the Eastern European country of Moldova. While growing up, wine and wine-making were an integral part of Adrian's life and culture. Adrian learned old world winemaking traditions from his grandfather, producing small lots of home made wine each year. After earning his Bachelor's Degree in Enology, Adrian accepted an internship in the USA and landed in the heart of Santa Barbara wine country just in time for the 2011 harvest. A few short years later he met his future wife Lydia.
As an eighth generation to Santa Barbara County, Lydia's roots go back as far as the days of the Presidio and intersect with the arrival of the first Italian ranchers. Throughout the generations, members on both sides of her family participated in some of the earliest winemaking in the area. Specializing more in drinking wine, Lydia pursued her career path in business.
Combining their skills as Winemaker and Chief Everything Else Officer, they formed Bolshoi Family Wines.
